 The Southeast is rich with tradition and uniqueness. While automotive styles change and grow, an appreciation for craftsmanship and attention to detail never change. There is something special when you spot a car that the owner has poured much of himself into either in directly building it or contracting others to fulfi ll his vision. SPARE DIME is about appreciating that vision. We know what it’s like to spend hours in the garage fi tting, removing and refi tting a part to make it perfect. We have spent many hours behind a grinder removing paint and days reiring an electrical system, tuning carburetors, and, my most favorite task, heading to the salvage yard to fi nd that one piece of chrome to complete a project. We also know what it feels like when you add up the receipts and you realize that you have spent every Spare Dime on your baby.
Our mission is to provide support the unique automotive lifestyle of the Southeast. Our goal is to use local resources in SPARE DIME. The models are local, the featured automobiles are local, the technical expertise is local. We are an intimate publication for the Southeast, by the Southeast.

I realized that I was personally out of control when I was moving home from Columbus, Ohio. I had a moving company to move my household goods and also had to hire a car hauler to move all of my cars. teering toward the cruising zones in Fresno, California, is the father and son team of Louis and Alex Cruz. Together they have long discovered that building lowriders has created a bond better than when the rubber meets the road. Meeting up with the family duo in an industrial part of the city near railroad tracks always provides for a clever backdrop for mean street images. The gritty story emerging here is how 22-year-old Alex tells about his early exposure to classic Chevys from his dear old dad. "My pops has always owned lowrider cars (bombs and Impalas)," he says. "Even before I can remember, he's owned low lows because of the stories I've heard from my mom. The first lowrider my dad had that I remember was a '53 Chevy pickup bomb." Indeed the ride that stands out with the most hardware is Louis' silver '62 Chevy Impala.

One of the best ways to change the appearance of your car is by painting it. While professional painters usually charge from about $300 to several thousand dollars- depending on the paint job and quality of it, you can usually paint your car for less.
